In This Week's E-Pistle, You Will Find:
This Week's Service: The Restoration of Simon PeterWhere do you go when you realize you’ve failed stunningly? Maybe you let someone down when that person needed your support. Maybe you didn’t show up. Maybe something you said cut deeply into the soul of the one you love. We’ve all been there. We all know how it feels. From time to time, we all fail. So did the disciples of Jesus – especially Simon Peter. This Sunday’s reading is a post-resurrection appearance by Jesus to his disciples on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. My message – The Restoration of Simon Peter – reminds us that life is a series of relapses and recoveries. And just so we’re clear, recovery is about progression, not perfection. Please join us on Sunday at 10am in our Sanctuary, or online, live on our YouTube channel. Message: Rev. Dan Plasman Music: Peter Black, Jeff Spangler, Max Brown You will always find our latest church bulletin and service music at Bit.ly/DUCCBulletin
Last Week's Service: The Journey of a LifetimeLast Week we explored together that eventful walk on the road to Emmaus. When you look back on your life, are there regrets? Do you wish you had done something differently? Does the language, "I had hoped..." resonate? When you imagine your future, what guides you? What is your 'True North'? And Why? Jesus' disciples were on this journey. Pondering what just happened, and trying to make sense of Jesus' death. Then they met a stranger. Their hearts were burning, their lives changed focus, their direction -- True North. Join us on Sunday as we reflect on their story and imagine our own future. Jody and Dan's Office Hours This Week

Media Mavens! AV Team Wants YOU!We are in search of the tech-attracted people among us. Training available. We need one more person to staff the sound booth (Hey if the pastor can do it, you can! Ask Pastor Dan about his experience!) and one more person to handle the video. Super fun! Super important! Once a month opportunities! Please contact Chris Clark or Lewis Corbin for more info. These people get the best seat in the house every Sunday May is Cereal Drive Month -- Feeding Kids Through the SummerYou'll find a cereal collection box in the foyer of the Friendship Hall during the month of May, as we collect cereal for Christian Neighbors and Ladders of Hope (two organizations we support at Douglas UCC). In partnership with the Allegan County Food Pantry Collaborative (ACFPC), our local food banks are collecting cereal throughout area communities to provide additional food for children during summer break. Why? Because hunger doesn't take a summer vacation, and cereal is a nutritious, vitamin-rich food that needs no preparation, is easily stored, and is well-liked by children. You are invited to drop off boxes of cereal in the foyer of the Friendship Hall. And You can find additional convenient drop spots all over the county and a way to make a financial donation to this drive right here: Sign Up Today: Pride Booth Volunteers!Community Pride month is in its final push of planning, and right along with it, our DUCC Pride Team. They are in search of folks to serve as our welcomers and representatives at our Community Pride event on Saturday, June 7. Signup sheet is in the IGC building. And the event calendar is up and ready for you to shake out your rainbow gear and make your plans to take pride in our PRIDE. IN SEARCH OF: Someone with a convertible auto -- a vintage one would be swell -- to carry our new pastors in their rainbow gear in the annual CAR-A-VAN. Connect with Greggie Gerrans, Greg Harvath, or either of our pastors if you are that car/driver. In Search of: Memorial Garden GardenersOur beloved church members, Dick Bont and Stacy Honson have had the care and planning for our Memorial/Meditation Garden plants and plots for many years. They are ready to retire this post, and so we are looking for new gardeners to take on the care and upkeep of this sacred space. Are you blessed with a green thumb and a love of leafy life? If so, connect with Stacy Honson to share your interest, and learn more about this important role in the care of our campus. SDAC 4th Annual Art Show and Gallery Sale, May 15-18It's time for the SDAC's annual show! The show will feature members' artwork (DUCC shares many members with SDAC!) in a convivial and celebratory setting.
