In This Sunday's E-Pistle, You Will Find:
Fourth Sunday after Pentecost: The Smallest Things Matter
Think of someone who was kind to you. Remember when you felt that warmth of someone who cared? What was it that they did? Usually, it's little things that make a difference. The smallest things do matter. How much faith do you need to make a difference in the world? The faith of a mustard seed Jesus said. Join us on Sunday as we consider which small things make a difference.

Last Week's Service: Third Sunday after Pentecost: Traditional Family Values?
In last Week's Gospel Reading, Jesus asks who his family is. Church will always seem counter-cultural to the rest of the world. So, like a lot of people, we make families of choice. What comes to mind when you hear the phrase "traditional family values"? When you consider the families you know, do they fit that phrase? What do you think an ideal family looks like? How do you think God feels about what it means to be family? Please enjoy last Sunday's service, when we listened to Jesus talk about family. It may surprise you.

Congregational Meeting June 23, Budget Review Ready
Your Church Council is preparing for our Congregational Meeting, held after service on June 23. This is the meeting when church business is discussed, church decisions are made, church voices are heard, and we vote as a congregation on important matters. And so, of course you'll want to be there!
We will share last year's draft minutes and financial statements for your review in next week's E-Pistle and will post them in the Friendship Hall. All church members are strongly encouraged to attend! Reach out to Julie Ridl if you wish to join the meeting by Zoom call. Proposed 2025 DUCC Budget is available for review. You can find a copy hanging on the bulletin board in the Friendship Hall or you can request a copy emailed to you from Julie Ridl [email protected]. We will vote first on accepting or amending last year's meeting minutes, below, and posted in the Friendship Hall.
UCC Commemorates Juneteenth: Healing as Freedom, Freedom as Healing
On June 20, the UCC's Racial Justice Ministries and the Join the Movement campaign will host a webinar — “Healing as Freedom, Freedom as Healing: Lineages of Emancipation Toward Wholeness” — to commemorate Juneteenth. The webinar will explore the healing practices that have “sustained freedom in the bones of our ancestors, before and after emancipation.” (Register for the webinar here.)
Seats Availabile, Jack Ridl's Oxbow Class, "Here's What Matters," June 22
Still a couple of seats available at church member Jack Ridl's Oxbow: Art on the Meadow class, “Here’s What Matters," Saturday, June 22, 10am - 5pm, lunch provided.
Workshop participants explore, through their preferred form of writing, the things that have profoundly impacted their own lives—whether they are funny, traumatic, serious, sorrowful, or joyous. Using Jack’s prompts, writers will first talk with one another about what subject they have chosen. Then, they will have time to explore that choice in writing, after which the group will engage in a delightful debriefing about what showed up as they wrote, culminating in a deeply memorable day. The Saugatuck Woman’s Club is raising funds for scholarships for area students. And next up is the much-anticipated Mini Golf Fundraiser! The owners of Saugatuck Mini Golf are offering special tickets for $20 each, which are usable all summer long. These tickets allow the Woman's Club to earn $15 for each ticket sold. Connect with Lynne Snyder to support local students through the purchase of these tickets. She will have the special tickets with her every Sunday at church, or give her a call to arrange a pick-up. A great gift for visiting friends and family members over the summer!
